With what happened in the middle years not being fully discussed, how Rex transitions to a relatively quiet civilian life could be an interesting story. Learn about his biography, battles, friends, and legacy. He was a close friend of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, and a leader who fought against the Separatists and the Empire. The establishment and fall of the Empire has been well explored throughout the current catalogue of movies and shows. Rex was a veteran Clone Captain, Commander, and Recon Commando who commanded the 501st Legion of clone troopers during the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War.

There is a much larger story waiting to be told about a fan favorite character, which could give audiences a window into a Star Wars era that has received little attention so far. With that being said, it's hard to believe that all Rex got up to in the many years between the Clone Wars and the Rebellion was a leisurely life of joopa hunting with his friends. Of course, this is also a natural way to reintroduce the fan-favorite Clone Commander Cody, who, despite being brainwashed during Order 66, was one of Rex’s closest friends in the Clone Army. Commander Bly, Dogma, and even the traitor Slick may be sought out by Rex. If this ends up being Rex’s mission, The Bad Batch may see the return of more clone characters. Given that Rex lives with only two other clones by the time he appears in Rebels, it would seem that he’s only mildly successful if this is the case. He viewed military service as an honor, and his loyalty to the Republic and his Jedi Generals was absolute.

Rex could also be seeking out specific clones, whether or not their chips were activated, to remove their implants and free them from Imperial control. Rex once served the Republic on the frontlines during the Clone Wars, taking orders from Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as first a captain and later a commander. Rex may be searching for clones who he believes haven’t been brainwashed yet and warning them about their implants so they could avoid becoming pawns of the Empire. Rex was being protective of Cut and his family, but he also took time to explain the control chip implants. Rex’s brief interaction with Cut Lawquane may indicate a new objective for the Clone Captain. Cut was not aware of Rex’s next destination (nor did he ask), but Rex is set to appear in a later episode, as revealed by a trailer. It isn’t clear if Cut removed his control chip yet, but he and his family leave the planet to escape the Empire’s influence nonetheless. The Clone Commandos soon learn that not only had Rex visited the Lawquane family a day before they did, but he also warned Cut about the control chips. In The Bad Batch episode 2, “ Cut and Run,” Clone Force 99 reunites with Cut Lawquane and his family on Saleucami. Updated As a big character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and beyond, Captain Rex has some great moments and these are his best quotes.

Rex, formerly designated CT-7567, was a veteran Clone Captain, and Clone Commander, who commanded the Grand Army of the Republics famed 501st Legion of clone. When Order 66 was activated, Rex briefly became brainwashed, but his free will was restored when Ahsoka Tano removed his chip.

Rex also became aware of the control chip implants found in all clones. Rex notably defeated a clone traitor, befriended a deserter (Cut Lawquane), and even imprisoned a corrupted Jedi General with a murderous hatred of clones. Having fought in the Clone Wars since the First Battle of Geonosis, Rex changed throughout the war, becoming a close friend of his Jedi leaders (as many clones did) and questioning the ethics of the Clone Army’s existence. In many ways, Captain Rex embodies the humanity and inherent tragedy of the Republic’s clone troopers.

Rex clone
